Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Directly behind the courthouse is Ophiucus, (meaning the serpent held) with the stars: Saif, "the bruised"; Mageros, "contending", and Triophas, "treading underfoot" Ophiucus is wrestling with the constellation Serpens “the serpent”. The constellation on the horizon to the right of the courthouse is Scorpio with the stars: Antares, "the rival of Ares - Mars the planet of war"; Lesath, "the perverse - in the tail of the scorpion". Directly above Scorpio is Libra with the stars: Zuben al Genubi, "the price deficient"; Zuben al Chemali, "the price which covers"; Zuben Akrabi, "the price of the conflict". Above and between Libra and the head of Serpens is constellation Corona “the crown” ~ Serpens is trying to grasp the crown but it is destined for the constellation partially shown in the upper right corner, “Bootes” the good shepherd. There are a few other constellations that can be seen in the painting but the great Orion is not in this painted sky. Note: 1. The names of the stars are in Hebrew or Persian. Note: 2. The constellations and stars would not necessarily be seen behind the Auburn Courthouse from this angle but they are appropriate to represent the drama of the times.

We align so much in thought with this wonderful work and message Matt. So well presented your thoughts are here and a connection beyond the average realm of most. Wonderful. F/L.

Yes, we do seem to align a bit ~ if you are ever out Sacramento way, perhaps we can share some time over a cup of coffee . . .
