This is a painting of curiosity, the pain of a bad choice, and a little bit of hope.
“There is a house in New Orleans they call the rising sun, it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God I know I’m one” is the opening verse from the song, "The House of the Rising Sun". The song was made popular during the 60's by the Animals - but originally it was an old southern Church hymn of warning.
Shining through the trees in the upper left corner is the constellation Orion, in Hebrew called Chesil, meaning ‘the strong one, hero, and giant’. In the right shoulder of Orion is the star Betelgeuz 'the coming branch'. A star in his left shoulder, Bellatrix, means 'quietly coming', and in the belt of Orion are the stars referred to as the three kings, the kingly star Al Niyak, means 'the wounded one.' In Orions left foot the bright star Rigol means 'the foot that crushes' and it touches and crushes the beginning of the constellation Eridanus which represents a river of fire. In this painting the river of fire winds itself down through the morning sky to the House of the Rising Sun.
