About Matt Konar
Konar's work is both light and dark in subject, approaching at every turn both the whimsical and the mischievous. He uses the canvas as a stage to capture moments of love and heroism, as well as times of human folly. His characters come from real life, from songs, from poems and from stories. All the stories take place under a starry sky with the drama of the constellations. Unexpected details are presented through the book on a shelf, the image in a mirror, the wallpaper pattern, an individual leaf, and many other visual gestures waiting to be unlocked by the viewer. Love how you've illustrated this Scripture with such wonderful symbolism in this magnificent oil painting, Matt!!! Usually you have an amazing display in the starry heavens that wows everybody, but this time we see a huge display of smoke coming from the passenger train as it courageously climbs the mountain struggling to push the heavy snow off the tracks that are hidden from view! Thank you Hazel ~ actually in the sky their are a few constellations: The Taurus charging representing the power and courage of Christ against the evil in this world; Aries, the slain ram representing the Love and sacrifice of Christ . . . there are a few others too.
